BHCA Testimonies

Eddie,Becky and Eli Zuniga - Attended BHCA 5 years, Graduates 2016

There is nothing greater we can give our children than a strong foundation. We included BHCA in laying the foundation for Eli when he was in 4th grade. We found that not only was he challenged to grow academically, but his character was also nourished.  As Eli entered middle school we realized that his foundation was nowhere near complete, in fact, it seemed to be a time of growth similar to the first few years of his life!

In remaining at BHCA for middle school, he was able to solidify his academic abilities, develop Christ centered character, and grow in his knowledge of the Truth. As he closes out his 8th grade year and prepares for high school, he does so with a strong foundation and for that we are eternally grateful.

Family who had 2 sons attend BHCA for 9 years before they moved.

Our family found BHCA when we were looking for a preschool that would help get the kids ready for kindergarten. We didn't expect that nine years later they would still be there. BHCA is not just a school, it is a family. I always felt my children were being held to the same high standards at school as they were at home. The teachers were great at the three R's (reading, writing & arithmetic), but it didn't stop there. The teachers pushed the kids to do their best, not just enough to pass. This instilled a work ethic that is still strong in the boys. Small class sizes initially had us worried, but it was a blessing. The smaller class size allowed for a significant amount of one on one teaching. If one was struggling with a concept, there was enough class time to help bring them up to speed. Or, if they were caught up, the teachers would help them advance to the next level. More importantly, the kids learned how to deal with different personalities, a very valuable life skill. As the boys got older, I could see their relationship with Christ grow. We attended church, and lived by HIs teachings at home, but with continual reinforcement at school it truly blossomed! BHCA helped to give the kids a Christian foundation upon which to build. I see them growing into young men and making decisions based on HIs laws. The boys are now in public school, and rarely, if ever have homework. They are not having any problems at all academically, and are ahead of most of their peers. I would highly recommend BHCA for any family looking for a Christ-centered education.

Drs. Scott, Dawn and Alexys Hourigan - Attended BHCA 11 years, Graduated 2015

We have felt that BHCA has always been congruent in creating a Godly environment to lay a sound moral compass with our children. We appreciate the fact that many of our family values are the same as the school values. Alexys spent 11 years from preschool through 8th grade at BHCA and is now at the public high school. She has moved on to making great choices which has led to great friendships. She was well equipped because of her time at BHCA. With 3 more kids on their way through the 8th grade at BHCA, we are excited to see them grow and develop in a Christian environment.

Jacee McLellan - 2007 BHCA Graduate

By attending Black Hills Christian Academy, it gave me the foundation I needed to go onto bigger and greater things in my life.  The teachers and the staff are always supportive of everything you do and will encourage you to do your best.  The students and teachers help you out whenever they can, and both will pray for you whenever you need it.  One of the best things about BHCA is all of the students.  Everybody is like one big family.  BHCA is a fun and safe learning environment with high academics and strong Christian values that I would recommend to anybody.

Tim & Mona Hauck - Parents of 2 BHCA Graduates

For Carissa, 2008 graduate, BHCA was a safe haven.  We watched her bloom under the guidance of her instructors.  They encouraged her to tap into her creative writing abilities and she is continuing to pursue that passion.

For Kirk, 2007 graduate, the opportunities for drama in school productions has moved with him into high school where he is very involved with the High School Drama & Music.  The academic excellence at BHCA has helped him qualify to attend Denver School of the Arts where he will finish his last two years of High School.

What we as parents loved about the school was the feeling of family and the nurturing environment.  Through the Biblical studies and Christ-Like character of the staff they learned to treat their fellow students with love & dignity.Tim & Mona Hauck - Parents of 2 BHCA Graduates:

Janie Humbracht, mother of 2 BHCA parents & grandparent of 5 BHCA students

We have always been believers in Christian education. Knowing that our children were getting a good education and that the values and principles that we were instilling at home were reinforced at school, was invaluable. Because the middle school years can be so tumultuous, it was always a priority to get our children through the middle school years with their self-esteem intact. Christian school played a major role in that for our kids! They were able to enter the public system as freshman with confidence.

Tom, Mary, and Tommy Myers - Attended BHCA 5 years

When our son began school at BHCA in the 7th grade, the first thing we noticed was the general atmosphere of care and compassion. We felt secure in the knowledge that he would be nurtured in a safe environment which reinforced the principles and values we lived by at home, while getting a quality education at the same time. That winning combination was invaluable to us. The most important factor in this was that the teachers and staff of BHCA not only taught about the love of Jesus, but they lived by it and demonstrated it daily. Without a doubt his Junior High years at BHCA were the best years of his entire school experience.

In his own words, “It almost made me enjoy school.” That may sound funny, but to us it was huge!
